What is the difference between tethered and untethered?
A tethered EV charger has a built-in charging cable permanently attached, while an untethered one requires you to plug in your own cable each time. Tethered chargers are more convenient whilst untethered charges to tend to look more sleek.
Should I have my EV charger installed before my new car arrives?
Yes, there is no reason to not be completely prepared for the arrival of your new car. We are able to install and test your EV charger with our test equipment and even setup your new app to ensure your good to go!
Do you need to carry out a survey before giving a quotation?
Not necessarily, if you can supply us with the information requested then we can usually quote without a site visit. Although we are more than happy to visit your home/ business to discuss options if preferred.
Does the supply need to come from my Consumer unit?
Yes, unless you have a suitably sized sub-main running to an outbuilding or external wall then we would most likely need to run the new supply back to your existing consumer unit. Some EV charger installers will take supply from an external meter cupboard and mount an external consumer unit. This is bad practice and we would not install our EV chargers this way.

Would I need any extra works carried out to electrical installation?
Yes, you may well need some remedial woks carried out before your EV installation can be completed. This includes but not limited to installing main protective bonding to Gas/Water services. Upgrading main meter tails/ fuse. All of this will be identified and documented on our initial site survey so there are no surprises further down the line.
