Does the property have to be empty for you to complete the rewire?
No, it doesn't, although it would generally be cheaper and completed more efficiently if it was. During occupied rewires a good amount of time is spent in the mornings and afternoons removing and relaying floorboards and carpets etc and making sure you have all your electrics restored overnight. This can easily add 1-2 days on to the completion time.
How long does it take to rewire my house?
Usually around 3-5 days depending on the size of the property. Type of floor coverings, make up walls etc.... We would give an accurate completion time once a survey has been completed.
Is it a messy job?
Yes, it can be a messy and disruptive job. At XLS electrical we take every step we can to keep dust and disruption to a minimum. This includes using protective floor coverings throughout, covering large furniture and dust suppression equipment where possible.
Do you make the walls/chases good when your finished.
Yes, we work closely with a reputable plastering company who come to site on our last day of the rewire to make good all chases etc. If you would like to get you hands dirty and do this yourself, this also works for us!

Yes, The Platinum Promise is a guarantee provided by NICEIC to customers who choose an NICEIC registered business for improvement works in their home. This guarantee serves as a safeguard in case the certified business is no longer trading, and the work carried out is found to be non-compliant.
How do I know if I need a rewire?
This can be determined in various ways; The most accurate way is to have an EICR carried out by us. This would determine whether your electrical installation would require a full/ part rewire or just remedial works to bring up to current wiring regulations. It is sometime possible determine if you need a rewire by the age of your existing consumer unit.
